The Oklahoman recently featured a special edition called Recognizing Nurses, in honor and celebration of the critical role nurses play in the lives of Oklahoma families all year long. The magazine published a special section highlighting nurses nominated in a wide variety of categories or specialties. One of our own favorite nurses at Kindful Hospice, Carrie Gardner was a featured honoree.
“The most fulfilling part of this work is supporting families and the patient through this part of life.”Carrie Gardner
“The most fulfilling part of this work is supporting families and the patient through this part of life,” says Gardner. She goes on to share that she does not view end of life care as morbid or sad but instead finds joy and meaning in her work, taking care of people and their family members as they come to the end of their time together. We could not be prouder of the work Carrie and our whole staff do to provide comfort and care for our patients.
In these times, with a nation struggling to manage a pandemic and our communities trying to come together in strength through difficult times, we can all take solace that there are good people, care givers and nurses like Carrie Gardner keeping watch. We endeavor to be that place of peace and kindness for all Oklahomans.
